Evelyn's Lasagne

Cook together for 30 min or more. Watch to see that that it doesn't burn on the bottom. Tomatoes will burn faster than most things. Simmer it and stir often. The sauce will reduce and thicken.

1 lb hamburger, browned

garlic powder to taste

8 oz can of tomatoes (15 oz ok too)

1/2 onion chopped

1/2 tbsp basil

1 (6) oz can tomato paste

salt and pepper


Stir together and set aside for filling.

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

6 oz cottage cheese (ricotta works but has a different texture)

1 tbsp parsley flakes

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper


Cook 10 oz lasagne noodles as directed on package. Rinse in cold water.

Layer a 2 qt casserole  dish with half of each item.

noodles laid flat across the dish

cottage cheese

sliced or grated mozzarella cheese

Parmesan cheese sprinkled

Top with Parmesan cheese.


Repeat until all the ingredients are used.

Bake at 350 until heated through and cheese is melted.

Allow it to sit about 15 minutes to firm up before cutting.
